Rolling waves - Carp fishing
Another short from my archives and this one more recent.
Rolling waves are not only soothing to the soul but they provide the ideal conditions for oxygenation and movement. When the water is also dark and the air warm the you have optimal conditions for a bite!

Bullseye - The River Cam 2011
Переглядів 3,9 тис.4 місяці тому
Bullseye & The Linear are famous Cambridgeshire carp, although I didn't know that when i first caught Bullseye. Long ago they were residents in a part of the river Cam we call the 'backs' which is the stretch between Queens College lock and Jesus lock, almost a mile in length it passes along the backs of many of Cambridge's famous colleges. That's where they were possibly born and that's where ...

Another short (long-short😉) from my back catalogue of films. The capture of The Linear from the river Cam July 1st 2011, one of my finest moments, the fish I had first spotted back in the close season and the one I wanted above all others. You can read all about this here River Cam Carp Quest Pt 1 thecarpcatcher.co.uk/thecarpcatchers_blog.php?post=342 You can watch the full episode here River C...

A short from the Woolpack spring 2008 My days on the Woolpack's lake 2 & 3 were full of fun and fish. I did well too landing most of the know residents and few of the lesser caught ones as well. Often when fishing lake #3 I fished with only two rods and put the third rod behind me on lake #2. This rod caught me a number of the residents and all from within a few feet of the bank. This episode h...

Its the first week of October and the last episode of Reedy fen 2023. Much has changed on the lake over the last few weeks due to the dramatic drop in temperatures and the fishing has slowed right up. This happens every October wherever I fish and I usually end up scratching around for a fish or two till at least the end of the month, however this month the River Cam was looking in fine fettle ...

We are now in the third week of September. This week I chat about Mr Sunshine, something I'm never too pleased to see and how at this time of year it's not such a problem. How bites tend to come later in the day as the season wears on and the change in the carps activity. And even though I'm doing well, catching on most visits, I still feel the need to keep driving myself on to improve on the s...

Its the second week of September 2023, summer is over and we are in the throws of Autumn, things are starting to change. This week I talk about carp getting pre-occupied on bloodworm, how that affects the fishing, how they go about cleaning themselves during feeding and after. Location and carp communication. How it's almost a game between you and the carp in catching them off guard. Among othe...

It's late August and the weather is perfect, so good in fact that I decide to get the bivvy out! So, after a few hours looking about and mucking around I finally settled in, although I swear half that time was spent moving kit up the huge flight of steps and down the other side to the chosen spot... Within the hour we are off with a very nice scaly 20lb mirror, I love late August 😉 Reedy fen is...

It's the middle of August and it's a warm and wet day, excellent conditions for fishing. As ever I'm concentrating on the weather to time my slots for day sessions on Reedy Fen. This week I discuss the wind and its affects, nusience species, bites and hooks, hookbaits and colour. There's plenty of fish rolling in front of me and with the methods I'm employing proving to be effective I manage tw...

August is upon us and the weather has been hot! Yet again close attention to the weather gives me the slots in the week to be by the lake to maximise my time by the water. Conditions are favorable but the water temperatures are still high so feeding periods are short and erratic. Perhaps it's time to also get the bivvy out and play the waiting game? After last weeks successful day sessions I'm raring to get back on the lake. The changes I've made to my approach are paying off and I'm confident that I've found a way to help me catch them. As ever I watch the weather like a hawk noting any changes or trends in air pressure and wind direction so I can predict the best days in the week to be beside the lake. Turning the opportunity's I get int...

It's the next day and conditions are not as optimal as i'd like but improving and fish are around the area I'm in at the moment so I'm confident. Over the last two sessions I've been rewarded with a few bites after my change in tactics, this week it pays off proving that I'm heading in the right direction. Reedy fen is a farm reservoir with a good stock of carp. Around 5-6 acres, the margins ha...

After the first two months blanking getting a result the week before made me feel that I was onto something, and had finally found a way to get bites. I started to fish Reedy Fen on the 3rd of May 2023, in the following two months I only managed two runs, losing both fish. wow..congrats for this video full of gold information!! I see that nobody ask that, but how if I want to make the boilies soluble? I have to replace the egg with corn syrup but what amount?

    • @TheCarpCatcher
      @TheCarpCatcher 2 місяці тому

      Should be soluble but if you want to make them more soluble than you need to use water soluble binders like whey gel instead of eggs. Do it in test batches like the film to get it right. Remember your recipe needs to allow you to roll quantities easily.

  • @xxfirebirdxx9542
    @xxfirebirdxx9542 3 місяці тому

    good recipe. you could add milk powder to it. then the boilies work better. and also try working with attractors. I'll try your recipes :)

  • @YakShoreOutdoors

    Hello from the USA! I'm trying to find a recipe idea for a mussel based boilie. The mussels here are hard to harvest so I was thinking that maybe canned claims or oysters would be a good substitute. How do you suggest this type of wet paste ingredient is used or measured? Would you use a fishmeal base or a milk one for the flavor to bleed out better?

    • @TheCarpCatcher
      @TheCarpCatcher 3 місяці тому

      I wouldn't bother using them, I'd use something else instead that I know I can catch the fish, that's much easier to use and make baits with. Keep it simple, carp aren't food connoisseurs.

    If fish can see hooks, how can a ronnie with a size 4 work.

    • @TheCarpCatcher
      @TheCarpCatcher 4 місяці тому

      A carps vision doesn't allow it to view anything a few inches in front of its nose, that's why it does everything by feel. Obviously what the carp can see depends on how the fish approaches the rig end of course how large the fish is and how much it needs to tip down.
